LOKSTA13
CHAPTER 6:
POISIONED
This is the same belly that contained the poisonous fumes that is written to kill Thor himself. On the base of this belly was filled with dirt, slimy substances, and skeletal remains that were forgotten by the serpent’s digestive system. Within a few seconds in this creature’s belly, the toxins were overwhelming to their weak fragile mortal bodies. Immediately they begun to feel sick due the effects of this poison that is now being inhaled into their systems. Now on their knees crawling, just ahead they see an opening that revealed a light. That light, believed to be hope even though they did not know where it was generated from but in their confused state, they knew they must get to it. Who knows, this might be that same light that will set them free from this toxic prison they are trapped in. Maybe it might be filled with brand new oxygen for them to use to purify their lungs of the poisonous toxins that lingered around. Would this be that same air that is needed to survive, to clean out their bodies from this terrible burning pain? It may just be and only a few feet away but could they get to it?
“Midgardian cur, make it there and survive for only a blink of an eyes length!” Durin spoke calmly then laughed. As Loksta struggled dragging the two towards that light he paused as he felt her not moving anymore. When he looked back, he saw the love of his life leaned against this death chambers wall. The gasses sickened her to the point of faint, so she stayed there unconscious as her skin began to turn pale.
“Baby get up, were almost there!” He begged her with a weakened voice whispering, tugging on her shirt trying to motivate her to move. Knowing he was delaying the inevitable, a tear exited his eye. Running across his cheek he thought about a future that was supposed to happen according to their plan. “Mamas, get up!” He demanded again, but this time his voice was a little louder. “Come on mamas, we know you, your stronger than this! This can’t stop you! When did you ever let anyone stop you?” With his new-found energy he grabbed the back of her shirt and started to drag her across the slime trying to maintain his balance but with no grip or solid ground to walk on. At this point, she might as well weight a ton. Weakened, he slipped falling on the floor but continued to pull her with one hand while he made usage of his other by trying to grasp on the dirt, oil, and mush that covered the ground.
“We’re almost there babe!” He said with an exhausted voice. “Al-mos...!” and then he collapsed face first because of the vile chemicals in the air. Slowly turning his head, struggling to get his last breath, he saw her motionless against this filthy floor. Although the surroundings dirtied her, his feelings for her made her look as beautiful as the day they met. “How could this happen? How could this possibly be our ending?” He questioned. Within a quick moment he gazed into the future which gave him hope once again. One of how he believed her facial expression would be when he proposed to her. One of how his would be when he was told that she was pregnant. One of which they would be living in an expensive house which their children and children’s friends would inhabit.
One thousand visions ran through his head within seconds. Visions of how their kids would look from their combined features. “Wow what a wonderful mom she would be!” He thought to himself as he visioned Carla picking up their child after a fall. What a beautiful sight this child was. A baby girl glowing of light, radiating the area wearing a white jumper. A beautiful sight with tanned skin a cute little nose and nice pretty hair. He mumbled something, paused then mumbled it a second time a bit louder with more energy, “Shh, she, she needs...” He stood on his knees gasping for air then paused. About three seconds later with more strength in his voice he said, “She needs a chance to be happy too!” speaking of his unborn child he struggled on. He crawled, on his belly moving closer to her while extending his arm with every bit of life remaining in him.
Oddly, he began to generate a strange dim green light. He stretched as far as he could with pure will power alone. His eyes started to glow with that strange green light as well. When he got close enough he grabbed her hand, gently squeezing it until he fell. His vision blurred then his eyes got smaller until all he saw was darkness. In his last moments he was so paralyzed that all he heard was nothing but his own heart, beating as loud as hollow drums thumping slower and slower. Besides the speed minimizing, the loudness was decreasing and in his head, he thought, “It can’t end like this!” His denial was unsuccessful as the beats paced even slower and softer until it was heard no more. Pure silence filled this tunnel as the two lifeless bodies stretched on the floor while Durin smiled from afar.
Knowing that not even he could stay in that environment long, he turned his head preparing to leave especially after he saw that darkness fell upon the two as the green glow that was acquired disappeared as well. All hope seemed lost until the silence was interrupted with a faint gasp of air that was followed by a scream, “Nooooooooo!” Lokstas hand squeezed Carlas as he became engulfed in a brighter green glow. That glow then surged covering her as well. Hearing this, Durin turned back looking at the two again but this time he saw Lokstas eyes were shining with a darker green smoke slowly pouring out of them. She grabbed his hand back, gently squeezing it as she too began to have her life restored. Both gasping for air experienced small body tremors from this surging new energy. Feeling a little stronger they pulled each other closer as life started flowing through their bodies once again. She let out an agonizing cry as all the poisonous fumes were being extracted from her body. They were so powerful that they were visibly seen as they withdrew from her skin.
As she got stronger a pinkish green aura surrounded the two because she started to glow with her own magic as well. Now visible to the human eye was a rapidly moving orb of clean air covering their bodies. This made their energy regenerate even faster. It sheltered and cleaned them at the same time as it moved in the direction of that light they were trying to get to. Once again Durin was furious as he was watched but even with his eons of mastering magic, he couldn’t understand what was going on. How are they even surviving the fumes of this great leviathan.
As the two were being transported, they hugged each other causing tears of joy flow down their faces. “Thou shall die together!” Durin shouted as he charged at them. Not close enough to the light Loksta did not see any other way to escape so he thought of one quick solution. Durin pulled out his sword then jumped towards the two. Not fully recovered from the poison yet, Loksta looked at Carla and said, “I love you babe!” as let go of her hand and jumped in front of her as he positioned himself to take the blow to protect his love, even if at the cost of his own life.
In the air Durin and everything else seemed as time was moving slow but at his swords very first contact, the magical orb that gave Loksta and Carla life exploded with a burst of magical energy sending all three of them to separate locations, back on Earth.
