NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Norse Mythology is the belief the Vikings and others had in which mortal men in conjunction with powerful beings, told on how creation came about. Based on Scandinavian Myth, which were present in countries like Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, and the Faroe Islands, awesome stories were made. Like Greek Mythology, Norse Mythology contains a plethora of Gods and other beings with immeasurable abilities. The Vikings worshipped these Gods, praying for assistance in many subjects varying from fertility to war. Many different things such as superstitions derived from Norse Mythology but are not recognized as its origin. Some, for example, say that most our days of the week, Sunday, Monday Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are named after these Gods that most people are unaware of. Even during World War 2, Hitler and others searched for ancient weapons and other items belonging to these powerful beings to massively change the tides of war. Current superstitions as splitting poles, black cats, and different issues with the number 13 also came from Norse Mythology.

LOKSTA13
Within one of Asgards grand halls is where a meeting of the Aesir, the main Asgardian Gods is about to begin. The faces of the participants were physically shaped of great concern. 16 of the surviving Gods of the Aesir were present. Whispers, chatting and mumbling were heard throughout this hall that was about half the size of a football field. Seated directly in the center of this stadium, all members wore white robes that blended in with the halls color. Some sat down on their chairs looking at one who sat alone with a depressed sadden look on her face. Others were nervous, edgy because they just wanted the meeting to commence in fear of not even knowing what it was about.
Tyr, the God of war as usual was annoying with his chest out, always very impatient. Like of all the Gods he was most liked for his bravery and sacrifice but least liked because of his attitude. “Come, let’s start this meeting here! Why do we always have to wait for Thor whilst he’s out prancing around in Midgard? Always, we always wait and he’s always late!”
In a calm manner another appeared standing behind him interrupted, “It is not Thor we wait for, it’s when I am ready!”
The whole room was silenced by that comment until Tyr responded nervously, “oH Sire, my apologies!”
A raven flew passed as he apologized. It was one of Odin’s ravens coming back reporting the information obtained as he flew about many lands throughout the whole day. There, it landed on Odin’s shoulder leaning towards his ear. It took about one full minute for that conversation while he just listened without responding but changing his facial expression several times. Tyr found this a great time to unnoticeably take a couple of steps back from this what seemed giant standing before him perplexed due to the news he was currently receiving. He also wore a white robe but his golden trimmings were more magnificent than all others. He also wore a black eye patch with a red ruby in its center. At different times when the information was given to him, his eyebrows lifted causing great concern to the occupants of that room. It was as if he was unsure of his next move which in all the eons of their existence, they’ve never witnessed. It was uncertain if he was mad or scared but overall something was wrong.
Odin, still looking straight forward, spoke, “Thank you Munin, please go now, seek more information for me! I will wait for thy return with more knowledge!” he said while patting its head. Seconds after, with wings spread wide it vanished leaving a small cloud of dust. As the rest of the cloud evaporated, the awaited Thor entered the hall. He as well had his holy robe on, prepared for this meeting.
“Oh, guess he finish prancing with the fairies!” Tyr commented as he frowned at Thor.
In response Thor smiled, replying, “Brother Tyr I’m here! What are you not honored enough to clap for me? Come on and give me a hand!”
Angrily the God of war slammed his arms on the table revealing his left hand was missing but in its stead, was a golden cup. Long ago his hand was bit off in an attempt to subdue the Great Wolf Fenrir. After Thor sat Odin said, “Now shall we begin! It has been centuries since I’ve had to call upon an emergency gathering. The signs are here, Ragnarok has been set in motion!”
Vidar, one of Odin’s youngest sons was the first to respond, “Father, in great respect I will not doubt you on your judgment or decision making, but I just would like to know how? Loki hasn’t been seen for ages now. Our scouts report everything normal, and in the underworld everything is regular as well!” Odin gave him one look causing Vidar to change what he was saying, “But if you say it’s happing, then so it is! I know I am the youngest God, I am aware of our ancient prophecy! It is now? I wish we could've still had Loki captive. Yes I know he’s a cunning liar but it did seem as if he was telling the truth. He said that he didn’t kill Baldur nor had anything to do with it. I know him, he can’t be, I mean he wouldn’t!”
But before he finished he was interrupted by Tyr raising his voice, speaking harshly, “Listen you will never know the meaning of war! Loki is guilty, Baldur is dead. He is dead, do you not hear me? Now the only time we will glance at him again is by looking at Fallfordarv, Hel’s doorstep. None other than Loki himself would do such a devious thing and celebrate it. We” ... like he’s done to Vidar, he then was spoken over, interrupted by Thor.
“We’ll I guess we should keep a better guard on our prisoner’s ... aye? I believe we should all take blame granted, he was being closely watched under the eye of your finest soldiers that just let him walk far yonder!” Sarcastically Thor smiled.
Tyr stood up furious, quickly followed by Thor now with his angered face, “Enough… this is not the time for this senseless arguing and fighting amongst each other!” Odin shouted as the whole room faded into darkness. The air thickened as his angered voice echoed throughout the hall like thunder. The two Gods immediately sat back down.
“We blame none other than ourselves! It is fault of yours as well as it’s mine! We are all to blame! Aren’t we the ones who govern all? Aren’t we those who set all the rules plus order? I say Ragnarok is afoot, and instead of preparing, making a plan, thinking about all being lost and how our beloved Asgard, as well as the nine other worlds all being destroyed, we are here arguing and fighting each other. This is a threat like none other, one of the most importance, we will not be able to prevent nor even delay this if we fight amongst each other. Is it not written that the all of we die throughout its course except for a pair. Is it not remembered cause of all the time that’s spent enjoying all of our powers of being Gods? Well ... I will refresh your memories!”
Still within the darkness of his fury, with his finger he made a clockwise circle in front of his whole audience which started spinning rapidly. First it was a small white cloudy mist which transformed becoming as bright as a halo but the size of a beach ball. As he spoke, different visions and images were generated showing what was destioned to take place.
“Recorded, Ragnarok begins with several harsh winters in a row. Right after they end, they are followed by another seven. Then after… they together will be followed by the end of our era. Battles will break out all over our 9 worlds that will create havoc and negativity clouding the minds of us all. It will cause brother to fight brother and death will follow as close as the air that is breathed. The wolf will swallow the sun, and the moon will be caught by the other wolf. Stars will disappear, mountains will fall while trees will be uprooted. The Wolf Fenrir will also get loose from those who hold him captive. The Midgard Serpent will leave the seas roaming ashore causing great tsunamis and tidal waves that will swallow everything. Naglfar, the ship that’s made from thousands of dead finger nails will be loosed from its moorings and captained by Giant Hrym to start its sail. The sky will open and sons of Muspel, inhabitants of the fire world will come through with their leader Surt commanding, riding in front amid fire. Our Rainbow Bridge Bifrost will be destroyed preventing us from escape or any to come to assist us. All will meet in battle at Vigard Field, a stretch of land 120 leagues in every direction!”
He paused, then took a look at each of the Gods then continued to explain the exact role some of them played. “Heimdall you will blow your horn Giallarhorn to let us know that our enemies are by a beards hair away. I myself Odin the all-father will battle and be killed by Fenrir. Thor, you will then fight the sibling of Fenrir, The Midgard Serpent. Yes you will kill it but die yourself from its vapors. Freyr will battle Surt and die from this great fire demons power, and Tyr will fight Garm and die as well. Vidar, though young still you will break the jaw of Fenrir after he swallows me and I rumble in his belly, yes I the All Father will die! Surt will burn the entire of our beloved Asgard with that weapon. Asgard, and the earth will sink into the ocean. But instead, we argue?!”
With his same finger, he began to rotate counter clockwise. He wove the circle causing the visions to disappear as quickly as they appeared. “We must stop this from transpiring! Is this clear?” All the Gods present said "Yes All Father"
simultaneously. “Good! And we have no time to waste while doing it!” He continued as his voicelowered until it was back to normal. The darkness of the hall crept backwards as well until nothing but white was seen again.
“These are my words, my commands! Things seemed to have changed! We all must prepare for the worst. This means refraining from using our powers and magic’s for now. We will need every last bit of it! Reaching out to any that can help is a priority, for it is not only we who will suffer. Any caught using powers, less an emergency, teaching or practicing shall be punished. I want Loki imprisoned once again! Capture him, and bring him back by any means but do not kill him! I want him here alive in front of me. I’ve had the 13th one summoned. He too no harm shall befall! This is not a simple request, not a favor, but my decree!”
Tyr asked, “My lord may I have permission to speak?” When Odin shook his head yes he began, “I beg you, if we allow this boy of Midgard to choose for himself, he might choose the wrong side. Same as if he chose the right side, he might fail like the other twelve before him. He does has Loki’s family’s Hamingja, that sometimes good but mostly bad luck that is passed down through his family each of their generation. He’s destined to lead against us, he has all the signs. Why don’t we just take care of him now?”
Automatically Odin began to look annoyed again. “Are you mad? How dare you think this way of one of our own? We are the Gods are we not? We do not sacrifice any of we. Even if it’s one world or 9 worlds!" Then looking at the one who sat alone, he asked, "Sigyn, what say you? Loki is your husband I’m sure you want to speak on his behalf!”
She looked at Odin, the rest of the meetings participants, took a breath before replying, “Well I am sorry this is happening but he is innocent. You all have strong opinions of your own so I will not try to change it. Now I have to live in constant pain not knowing if my love is dead by the hand of one of you traitorous murderers, the enemy, or trapped in some prison. If he is alive will you suffer the pain and guilt as it eats you away from the inside for blaming and punishing an innocent one! The truth will come with him!”
After she finished came a long pause, “Ok so be it, carry on!” Odin demanded. He turned his head to Sigyn, winked his good eye then continued, “Remember my decree! This meeting is over, may the favor of the fates guide us through this darkness! Thor, stay you back, I have something I want you to do!” As all the Gods left, Thor stood back as directed. “Come my son, we shall converse!” As they walked, Odin like a proud father admired his child with a long stare, “My son, time after time I warn you about your temper but this is beyond that! Tell me, what more angers you?”
Thor put his head down before replying with frustration, “Aye father, it’s not only Tyr, he bullies others and boasts as if he knows everything! It’s not good. He’s always talking down to others! Even you don’t behave in such a manner and you’re the most powerful of us all! I will not stand in your shadows watching him act as if we were the enemies of Asgard. The only other concern will be that of the number thirteen. I dare not question your knowledge of our situation and I stand fast protecting you if right or wrong! At any time, my life is in your stead my lord!”
Odin placed his hand on Thor’s shoulder gently he pulling him close, “My son, you and Baldor of all… I trust my life with. This kingdom has many that will gladly give their lives for their sire but it seems we have turned out to have more serpents than in Hel’s garden! Fortunately Loki is not one of them. Fear not, I have sent Munin with a message that’s carried to another whom I trust as well as you!”
Far to the north of Asgard, Munin reaches a gigantic cavern that is covered with clouds with writings and symbols engraved above the entrance. About two minutes after, the cavern started shaking until an object emerged. It flew out with speed and agility of a jet as it turned and navigated through other mountains. It was as like a chameleon, blending in with the skies and clouds itself
